Fiesta time in Santa Ines 2017

Rock n roll, almond blossoms and lime ovens.

If you haven't been to a town or village fiesta on Ibiza yet, then now is your chance with the village of Santa Inés putting in a nice little set of events for its 2017 celebrations.

This Saturday 21 January is the main day of the fiesta with a night of rock and roll featuring local bands Poison Ivy and Projecte Mut, starting from 20.30 h.

In the morning of the same day, there's the usual religious mass in the quaint village church from 12 h. Get there around an hour later and enjoy a display of traditional Ibizan folk dancing. You can also tuck into some freshly-made buñuelos, mini doughnuts that are a Balearic speciality.

Santa Inés is THE go to place to see the carpet of almond blossom that brightens up the valley by day turning a ghostly white by moonlight. You can join in on a free full moon moonlight walk by heading for San Antonio town hall on 11 February, where at 8pm a bus will transport you to the village to start the walk.

This pretty village in the north of the island is really worth a visit. You are usually far away from the crowds and as you enter the village you will see ploughed fields, orange and lemon groves and many almond trees.

You can also go and see a traditional lime oven in use. These were used on the island in days past to make the white paint for houses and fincas. The oven will be lit and will run constantly for three days in the Festa a sa Troca d'en Coca from 24-26 February. To locate the venue, simply type the address Cami Corona de Corona, 2 into your favourite maps app to lead you there.
