Loewe pops up in the MACE

Loewe shop inside Ibiza museum.

For this summer only, Spanish luxury brand Loewe will be opening a pop up shop in Ibiza's MACE museum of contemporary art. It's a win win situation for both parties as Loewe gets a retail space for its iconic style items and the MACE gets and income to help its funding.

Founded in Madrid way back in 1846 as a cooperative for leather artisans and taken over by a German Entrepreneur named Loewe in 1872, it became one of the world's original luxury fashion/style houses and is now involved in clothing, accessories and perfumes.

Its pop up shop in Ibiza, being on the small size, won't be selling all the group's (Louis Vuitton is the current owner) range, but will be concentrating on just one line, the John Allen summer collection. Allen's a British artist whose latest exhibition, British Landscapes, which has a 'Hockneyesque' innocence and nostalgia about it, forms the crux of the designs on sale. Collaborating with Loewe's head designer Jonathan Anderson, the pair have maintained the vibrancy of the exhibition in items like beach towels, bags, silk scarves and other accessories.

It's Loewe, so it doesn't come cheap, a beach towel with a 'Cornish Harbour' design will set you back €495, and a 'Falling Leaves' beach tote comes in at a mere €990. However, with Ibiza's growing reputation as a VIP destination, Loewe must be quietly confident that they're going to shift enough stock to make the enterprise worthwhile.

The shop's open from 28th July to 6th September during the museum's opening hours; Tuesday to Sunday 10am to 2pm and Tuesday to Friday 6pm to 9pm and can be found just above the Plaza de la Vila in Dalt Vila – the square where all the restaurants are!
