Sankeys Manchester will reopen its doors to the Manchester clubbing army over this coming festive period, starting with the big launch today - Friday 20th December, and continuing until New Years Day with a total of six massive parties... all under the title 'Rise of the Phoenix.'
For those who aren't in the know, Brian Potter is a legendary - but fictional - club promoter and owner from Manchester with a history of running 'fairly poor' clubs, the Phoenix Club being one of them. A catalogue of errors ensue, including the worlds worst (or best, depending on your view point) entertainer - DJ Ray Von and an inflatable penis dressed up as a snake for kids to play on... or the other way round, I'm not sure. So, really, the only link between Sankeys Manchester as the Phoenix Club is the title of their re-launch parties - Rise Of The Phoenix. That's that cleared up then.
It has been 6 months since the club announced they would be shutting the doors to the famous UK club 'indefinitely', with much confusion over the future - or lack thereof - of the club. Stepping in to put all fears to rest is the enigmatic Sankeys leader and owner, David Vincent.
“We honestly did not know whether the club was ever going to open again when we shut it back in May. We had to overcome various major financial difficulties caused by certain elements, and even a court case to win the club back. When I said the club was closing back in April I always said the club would be shutting down indefinitely and did not know what the future held. There seems to be some confusion about what the term ‘indefinitely' means. The definition is that it is not a definite time or clear time period. Unfortunately some people like to manipulate my words to their own stupid gains or clearly do not understand English. I'm just really happy for Manchester that Sankeys is returning to its spiritual home,” - David Vincent.
